In response to the Covid-19 pandemic I noticed children in my area (and all over the UK apparently!) have created rainbows and placed them in windows along with up-lifting messages to bring joy to passers by in this scary time. I thought it was a lovely idea, however with my daughter being a baby she wouldn't be able to paint one herself so I came up with a slightly different approach - Perfect as a tummy time / sat up sensory activity and there was no mess involved!
What you'll need:
1. A sheet of paper (preferably quite thick!)
2. A variety of coloured paint, acrylic paint is ideal but you can do it with poster paint, gouache etc.
3. Bubble wrap
4. Masking tape
How to:
1. Firstly, tape your sheet of paper to a firm & flat surface that baby can reach - I used the kitchen floor... covered with a bin bag just in case!
2. Squirt your paint in arch shapes (see image below).
3. Place the bubble wrap over your paper and tape the egdes to the floor / bin bag.
4. Let your baby explore the feeling and colours. Once they're done carefully peel the bubble wrap off and leave to dry, then hang in your window to brighten someones day!
